Small Fry Pick of the Week: The Map Trap

[Cover]

The Map Trap by Andrew Clements

Someone has stolen Alton's secret maps!  No, not treasure maps or anything . . . It's much worse.  Because these maps could get Alton into a world of trouble.  You see, ever since he was little, Alton has loved maps--studying them, collecting them, even covering his bedroom walls with them.  And now he also loves drawing them.  Sure, he draws regular maps, but his collection of secret maps?  They're  . . . different. Like the map about which cafeteria foods make kids race for the restrooms.  Or the map that shows what the regions inside a certain teacher's brain might look like.  There's even a map that plots how many time the principal says "um" during daily announcements!  Clearly, Alton needs to get his maps back.  But when he starts getting notes from the "mapnapper" telling him what he must do if he ever wants to see them again, it gives the phrase "uncharted territory" a whole new meaning.
